Beyond the Pale (2020) results from a collaboration between myself and artist-weaver Ruth Glasheen. The pale refers to the enclosure of an ancient deer park belonging to the Earls of Arundel and signifies wealth, power and an ability to control who has access to what. To create the work we drew on material in the Edward James Foundation archive as well as historical and contemporary examples of enclosure and lack of accessibility.
